Myanmar

LEAF has started work in Myanmar in 2013 by helping with the education of church workers and of diaconal needs. There are two LEAF missionaries in Myanmar.

LEAF works with the Lutheran Church of Myanmar (LCM), which was established in 2000 and has 1750 members. LCM has an orphanage housing 20 children and an education centres for the children who do not have the privilege to go to school. Myanmar is among the countries with a small percentage of Christians and wery few missionaries. The main religion is Theravada Buddhism (80 %). Others are Animism, Islam and Hinduism. Only 4-6 % of the population is Christian. Martin Lalthangliana, the mission director in Myanmar wrote to tell us: “I want you to know, that in Myanmar the harvest is plentiful for active missionary work.”
